Malgorzara Chomicz
A graphic artist and professor of fine arts, mainly works with intaglio and relief printing techniques. Since 1992, the artist has worked at the Faculty of Art, University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn. She studied at the State Higher School of Visual Arts in Poznań, from which she graduated with honours in 1995). She is the author of more than 70 solo exhibitions (e.g. in Krakow, Vilnius, Rome, Nuremberg, Assisi, Perugia, Trento, Zagreb, Zadar, Toulouse and Lugano) and participated in over 500 collective shows and graphic design competitions worldwide. She has also been invited to contribute to multiple prestigious exhibitions of graphic arts masters. In 2000 and 2002, Chomicz was awarded scholarships from the John Paul II Foundation of the Polish Institute of Christian Culture in Rome and from the Fonds d'Aide Aux Lettres Polonaises Independantes in Paris in 2001. In 2015, she was invited to participate in the international symposium “Slovenia Open to Art - Sinij Vrh”. In 2018, she participated in the symposium International Graphic Arts Festival at the Indira Kala Sangeet University Khairagarh (India). She won the Olsztyn Art Biennale in 1998, 2001, 2005, 2017 and 2019. In 2012, she was awarded the 1st Prize “Diego Donati” at the II Biennial of Contemporary Graphics in Perugia (Italy). The year 2013 saw her receive an honorary mention at the XII Bienal Internacional de Grabada “Josep de Ribera” XÀTIVA 2013 (Spain). In 2014, she was awarded the Excellent Mini-Prints accolade at the Guangzhou International Exlibris and Mini-Prints Biennial (China) and an honorary mention at the 2nd Garzapapel Engraving Contest “Works Reception” in Alcoy, Spain. In 2015 and 2019, the artist was nominated for the Gran Prix “Premio Acqui” in Acqui Terme, Italy. In 2016, she won the Gran Prix “PREMIO ASSOLUTO” of the 1st International Biennial of Contemporary Art in Perugia, Italy. In 2017 she received an honorary mention at the 3° Concorso di Xilografia “Ugo Maffi Città di Lodi” in Lodi, Italy. In 2018, she won the “I Santi di Diso” International Prize of Engraving in Diso (Italy), an honorary mention at the 8th International Biennial of Small Graphics in Tetovo (Macedonia), the “First Prize Author's Wishes Italian Graphic Art 2017/2018” International Competition in Vigonza (Italy) and an honorary mention at the 2nd Jan Feliks Piwarski Graphic Art Competition “O! Świecenie” (Jubilee of the 200th Anniversary of the Prints Showroom, BUW). In 2019, she won the Grand Prize of the Triennale européenne de l'estampe contemporaine in Toulouse (France), as well as received honorary mentions at the XIV Edizione della Biennale Internazionale per l'ncisione “Premio Acqui” in Acqui Terme (Italy), 1st International Engraving and Sculpture Biennial - Premio Celommi 2019 in Teramo (Italy) and the XII Quadriennial of Polish Woodcut and Linocut (Olsztyn). In 2020, she won the GRAND PRIX René Carcan International Prize for Printmaking in Brussels (Belgium) and the Audience Award at the same competition. In 2021, the artist won an honorary mention at the 3rd International Print Biennale Yerevan in Armenia and 2nd Prize at the 3rd International Print Contest in Turkey; the following year (2022), the artist was awarded the 1st Prize of the 10th International Competition of Contemporary Art “San Valentino Arte” in Terni (Italy). In 2023, she received an honorary mention at the 15th Edition of the Józef Gielniak International Print Competition in Jelenia Góra. Member of L'Associazione Nazionale Incisori Contemporanei (Association of Contemporary Italian Graphic Artists) in Italy. Author and coordinator of international art projects. In 2018, Anirbar Midya from the Indira Kala Sangeet University Khairagarh (India) wrote a dissertation concerning the artist, entitled Malgorzata Chomicz As a Printmaker.  Chomicz lives near Perugia, Italy, where she has her own private graphic arts studio and runs printmaking workshops.
